Claude Fable 5 Temporarily Unavailable | Upstream Access Restricted, Use Opus 4.8 Instead

models

Due to an upstream access-policy change on Anthropic's side, Claude Fable 5 (claude-fable-5) is temporarily unavailable. We're actively working to restore it and will share a recovery timeline as soon as we have one.

In the meantime

  • Alternative: switch to Claude Opus 4.8 — also 1M context, with the same API surface as Fable 5, so migration is just a model-ID swap
  • Scope: only claude-fable-5 is affected; the rest of the Claude line (Opus / Sonnet / Haiku) remains fully available
  • Updates: we'll post the recovery notice here in the ChangeLog as soon as it's back

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Claude Fable 5 | Anthropic's Most Powerful Model, a New Tier Above Opus

models

Claude Fable 5 from Anthropic is now live on EvoLink — Anthropic's most powerful and most intelligent model, a new tier above Opus, built for the hardest coding, long-horizon agent, and high-stakes long-context work, with a 1M-token context window.

  • Context window: 1M tokens
  • Max output: 128K tokens
  • Capabilities: state-of-the-art reasoning, advanced coding, long-horizon agentic tool orchestration, vision input
  • Recommended workloads: the hardest coding tasks, longest agent runs, and highest-stakes long-context decisions where stronger reasoning is worth a premium
  • Pricing: $10 / 1M input, $50 / 1M output — about 2× Opus 4.8; web search tool billed per request
  • API: same surface as Opus 4.8 — adaptive thinking only (no temperature / top_p / budget_tokens), effort up to max; do not send thinking: disabled (omit the parameter instead)
  • Routing: keep Opus 4.8 as the strong default and escalate only frontier-difficulty requests to Fable 5
